Bocce at the Beach on 9/28
Major League Bocce and Dogfish Head Brewery teamed up to host our first ever destination bocce tournament in Lewes, DE on Saturday, September 28, 2013. The event included all-day bocce, live music, beer specials, and great times.
Ten officially registered teams of players gathered at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry in Lewes arriving from Philly, Delaware, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia, and nearly 200 visitors strolled the grounds to watch the tournament, participate in pickup bocce games and enjoy a perfect day on the waterfront.
Winning the top prize was Deboccery, a team of four local guys from Rehoboth, Delaware. They won $500 cash plus a case of Dogfish Head beer apiece, plus Patagonia backpacks filled with Dogfish merchandise. Way to clean up the prizes, boys! In second place was Phil Bombs, a team known to compete in the University City division of Major League Bocce in Philadelphia who fought a hard match.
As the tournament reached its climax, the tourney players and visitors enjoyed the tunes of blues rockers Lower Case Blues and classic country band Human Country Jukebox.

Thank you to the Lewes area community and all our Major League Bocce players for your support and enthusiasm!
